Retirement Living Can Be Fun!
“Life begins at retirement.” - Unknown
Retirement living is actually not too bad…if you’ve planned your retirement in advance. If you’ve been investing for retirement, when you retire the quote above is true: life really does being at retirement! Retirement living can be fun, rewarding, and it can be even better than the previous 50+ years of life if you do it right.
Assuming you’ve planned for retirement, the answers to the following question will illustrate: What are the benefits of retirement living?
- You can wake up whenever you want. No more waking up with the alarm clock if you don’t want to! Your life isn’t scheduled by a boss or by responsibilities. You can sleep as late as you wish.
- You can do whatever you want to do the rest of the day. Whether you want to go to the bookstore and sit down with a book while drinking a latte, or whether you want to catch a movie, or whether you just want to go for a walk…you can do it. No one’s telling you what you have to do or what you cannot do.
- You can travel. One of the most fulfilling experiences is to see new places. But the problem (if you have to work) is you can’t just get up and go somewhere when you feel like doing so! Retirement living allows you to do it, though: if the weather’s too cold, you can pack up and travel south for a few months. If it’s too hot, you can hop in a car and stay further north and explore the country. A whole new world opens up during retirement!
- You can try new hobbies. Retirement living is often the time when old guys get to have the hot rod cars they’ve always wanted. It’s the time when people get to fully devote themselves to their passions. The reason is that retirement living allows a person to have more leisure time and more leisure money! And it’s a great way to do what you like!
- You have less responsibilities. No kids, no work, and no worries. Retirement living is a time for fun, leisure, and time for yourself. Work doesn’t have to bee a part of it – although I’ve known some retirees who get a part-time job just to have something interesting to do and to meet new people!
- You can learn more. Is there a subject you’ve always been fascinated by? Is there a skill you’ve always wanted to develop? Is there a language you’ve wished you could speak? Retirement is time when you can delve into these areas in more depth and learn that language or learn to do that skill. Your life becomes so much richer when you gain the confidence and satisfaction of learning something you never previously had the time for! Retirement living allows many retirees to go to college and get a new degree as well.
The life of a retired person is boring? Drudgery? Not at all!! The retired life can be fun, rewarding, and better than all the previous years put together if it’s done right.
